About Jason
Jason is the voice of Mandarin Temple. A native Mandarin speaker who grew up in Taipei and studied linguistics in Vancouver, he spent a decade teaching Chinese at international schools before realizing he could reach more learners through a microphone than a classroom. His teaching style is built on vivid analogies — he once explained the four tones using a roller coaster, and it stuck with an entire cohort of students. He co-hosts every podcast episode with Amy, breaking down characters, grammar, and culture with the patience of someone who genuinely believes anyone can learn this language. When he is not recording, he is probably annotating a new lesson plan or arguing with Amy about whether 了 is the hardest particle in Mandarin (he says yes).
