The word 即便 combines 即 ("even/immediately") with 便 ("then/even"), creating a concessive that sounds polished and literary. 即便你成就再大，也不能骄傲 (Even if your achievements are great, you cannot be arrogant). This pattern expresses unwavering principles, unconditional commitments, and philosophical observations. It appears in essays, speeches, editorials, and literary prose. The tone is often one of firm conviction or gentle resignation — "even under these extreme circumstances, the truth remains the same."

Common Mistakes
The 即便……也 pattern requires 也 (not 但是) in the result clause. 但是 belongs to a different concessive structure.
也 must be placed in the result clause before the verb, not attached to 即便如此.
The condition after 即便 should be adverse or extreme. Good weather going to the park is normal — there is no concession. Use a challenging condition.
