Blank frames where a picture should be, or an exam question that references an image you cannot see. Three things fix most of it, and if none of them do, the problem is ours rather than yours — which is worth knowing early rather than after twenty minutes of settings.
1. Reload the page
An image that failed to download stays failed for that page load — nothing retries it on its own.
A plain reload re-requests it. A hard reload also bypasses anything cached badly, which is the fix when a page looked fine yesterday and does not today.
2. Check an extension is not blocking them
Aggressive privacy and ad-blocking extensions sometimes block image requests that look like tracking to them. It is not usually the well-known blockers — it is the "maximum protection" mode of a smaller one.
A private or incognito window runs with extensions off by default, so it separates the two possibilities in a single step.
3. Scroll slower, or wait
Images below the fold load as you reach them, so on a slow connection a fast scroll can outrun them. Scrolling back up and down again usually catches them.
On a genuinely slow connection, give a page a moment before concluding an image is missing.
When it is not you
If images are missing in a private window, on a second device, and on a different network, then it is ours. There is nothing further for you to try, and the useful thing you can do is tell us exactly where.
Not "images are broken" but "the images in the HSK 3 mock test, question 4". A specific page is fixable in an afternoon; a general report is not.
Images inside an exam
Some exam and mock-test questions depend on a picture, and a missing one makes the question unanswerable rather than merely uglier.
Reload before answering. If it is still missing, do not guess — note the paper and the question number and tell us, because a broken image in an assessment is a higher priority than one in an article.
Reporting it usefully
- The page address — The full URL, copied rather than described.
- Which image — "The one under the second heading", or the question number.
- What you already tried — Hard reload, private window, another device. It saves us asking.
- Your browser and device — One line. Occasionally it is the whole answer.
The contact form is the route, and a report with those four things gets fixed considerably faster.
Common questions
An extension or a stale cache. Hard reload first; if that does not do it, disable privacy extensions for this site.
